SALAD OF STORIES

Anna, the trainee teacher is finishing her internship period in our school. She has bee working hard. She programmed an activity with 5th graders. This activity adapts the classic strategy Salad of stories proposed by Gianni Rodari in Grammar of Fantasy.

Pupils have been working hard too. they chose characters from different stories and they have been creating a new story with the characters chosen.

What is interesting about the project is that Anna has been working in collaboration with another trainee teacher in a different school, whose pupils were creating stories too.
Pupils in Pins have read the stories written by  the pupils in Sant Jordi School and have scored them. Pupils in Sant Jordi school have done the same with our stories.
All the group has gotten a prize. Here they are with their certificates and their stories. if you click on the photo you'll be able to read the story they wrote.

MY DAY

Pupils in year 5 are working in daily routines. They are supposed to do a poster in pair, explaining their day.

Before that, they should work on some topics and vocabulary.
Here you have them doing a funny activity: A Running dictation.

First of all, they have 5 or 10 minutes to prepare a dictation related to my day.

Second, one in the pair sits, and the other  have to run to the the dictation, which is on the wall at the other end of the room, memorises a word, two words or a sentence, runs again where his or her partner is sitting down and dictates what he or she has memorised.

Third, when the pupil who dictates finishes his or her part, sits down and it is time for the other pupil to run and to dictate.

Finally, when they finish, they sit down together and correct.

READING IN PAIRS

During this term pupils in year 6 are taking part in the programme Reading in Pair. We implemented

it 3 year ago, after we were trained by the "Grup de Recerca de Aprenentatge entre iguals" in UAB.
It is an educational programme for improving reading comprehension skills. It is based on peer tutoring, both at school –between pairs of pupils- and, if possible, at home, with a family member.

This is the process:
1st.- The tutor takes the reading home and prepares it during the week.
2nd.- Tutor and tutee sit drown together. The tutor asks the questions in the "before reading" section.

3rd.- The tutor reads.

4th.- The tutor and the tutee read together.

5th.- the tutee reads and the tutor corrects (PPP technique)

6th.- They do the reading comprehension section.

7th.- The groups that finish do the extra activities.

8th.- They evaluate each other.

9th.-  If they have agreed so, the tutor gives a little prize to the tutee.

10th.- The teacher gives the new reading to the tutee, who now becomes a tutor, for preparing it during the next week
